On 12-14th of February the second volunteer meeting took place. 50 people from Redemptorist parishes have expressed their will to assist at the Redemptorist youth Congress that will be held in August. Participants kept coming from Friday night up till Saturday morning. Exactly then, at 9 am with joint prayer the training began. At the first meeting members of the organizing committee shared the detailed information about the contents, program, and schedule for Lviv-2010.
On 25-26th of September the first volunteer training took place in retreat house at redemptorist monastery in Holosko. More than 50 people from different communities arrived to create a new volunteer team. Young people from Novoyavorivsk (“UYC” – “Ukrainian Youth for Christ”), Kochavyno (“Kochavyno stars”), Ivano-Frankivsk (“Angelette”), Chernihiv (“Unity of hearts”), Kamyanec’-Podilsky (“New generation”), Ternopil’ (“St. Alphonsus youth ” and “Light of Mary”) and Lviv (“Light of Christ”) participated in training.
During these days everybody had an opportunity to get to know each other, to have fun, to pray together, to learn how to work as one team. Though it was rather cold, and there were no spare blankets, the volunteers kept a warm and friendly spirit.
One exercise at the training was particularly exciting for all of us – players had to construct buildings out of different materials, and no words were to be spoken aloud. Surely mutual understanding was troublesome, but on the other hand one should simply be more attentive in order to hear the other person. For “uh”, “mmmh” and huge round eyes can tell a lot, and in the end you’ll get not even a cottage but a palace, with arbours, domestic birds, and people to live in.
Evening time witnessed a burst of creativity as young people staged miniature performances, showing their future work during the meeting. In a fun and interesting way it demonstrated our volunt
eer’s ability to cope with problems, no matter how difficult these might be.
Volunteers have learned to realize how important it is to work as a team. Often it is necessary to substitute each other. For instance, technical team will have to ‘communicate’ with foreigners. These guys are even ready to teach them Ukrainian :)
All we are very different. Somebody is “reliable”, the other one is “fun”, or “ascetic”, or even “fruit-jelly”, as we used to talk about each other. Still we all are volunteers, a lot depends on us. It is only our joint effort that will help us to carry out this meeting, and demonstrate our Ukrainian hospitality and love to God and one’s neighbours.
Lviv-2010 Organizational Committee
The word Lent is from the Anglo-Saxon "lencten" (spring). Historically, Lent was a final preparation period for catechumens who were being initiated into the Catholic Church, and who would soon experience full communion with the Church God willed should exist as they were brought into the Paschal mystery at the Easter Vigil.
In time, Lent became a renewal period for the already baptized faithful as they witnessed the fervent conversion of the catechumens. Today, Lent is a forty-day period in which the whole Catholic Church enters into a time of penance, preparation, and spiritual renewal.

As the tradition every two years Lviv Province of CSsR provides Youth Festival on which are participating youth communities from our parishes. This year from July, 30 till August, 2 in Ternopil the Youth Festival was organized by eighth time
The Festival with slogan "May They be One" invited us to unite our hearts.
On the 10 – 14 July 200, in the retreat house of the CSSR monastery (Holosko, Lviv), the Preparatory Meeting for the International Congress of the Redemptorist Youth, which will take place in August 2010 in Lviv, was held.
Main discourse, spiritual meetings and retreats of the future International Youth Congress Lviv 2010 will be organized with main theme: To be like You!
As a result of the meeting, the date of the Congress and the number of the participants were fixed and themes of the Congress and daily routine were determined. Also a lot of concrete details of the future Congress were discussed. Delegates, who had been involved in the organization of previous youth congresses shared their experiences, emphasizing important areas for consideration.
During the five days spent in the monastery, participants had an opportunity to get acquainted with Eastern Catholic Rite (spirituality) by taking part in the Greek-Catholic Liturgy, honoring of the Mykola Chernetskyy and Vasyl Velychkovskyy relics, visiting of the Basylians’ monastery in Krehiv and also the Redemptorist sisters’ house.
