Every life is a vocation. Giving life the Lord calls on every person who is able to answer this call. Undoubtedly the best way to answer this call is through our YOUTH. Therefore, the Redemptorists try to help young people to realise themselves more fully and find their place in the Church and society.
By gathering youth together our goal is not only to give them an opportunity to meet, but also to find a deeper way of understanding the life of Christ, Our Savior. Having achieved this goal we hope that anyone looking at these young people would say with confidence “They are truly Christians.”
Therefore, there are youth organisations in every Ukrainian Redemptorist parish. They faithfully follow the example of their spiritual fathers and assist them in pursuing their vocation.
Every group regularly (at least once a week) gathers for prayers and organisational meetings, which are arranged by pastors or youth leaders. Therefore, youth organisations actively participate in parish life by:
singing in youth choirs
publishing youth periodicals, magazines or newspapers
conducting prayer services
organising concerts and performances
working in catechetical schools within parishes
accompanying Redemptorists on Missions
bringing children and youth closer to God through their work at retreats and summer camps
volunteering in “Faith and Light” communities for the physically and mentally disabled, as well as in orphanages and boarding schools
organising and preparing St. Nicholas events for the poor children of the parish and for those in boarding schools
organising youth festivals
taking an active part in Ukrainian and international Pilgrimages and Congresses
And every community is always open to new friends.
Pastors of our youth groups take care of their spiritual development therefore, they organise prayer and thematic meetings, as well as contemplative ones and celebrate the Eucharist for our youth. Fathers try to share with our young people the spirituality and charism of the Congregation.
